Quad City International Airport adds curbside valet and coat check service

February 19, 2020

FEBRUARY 19, 2020 | MOLINE, ILLINOIS – Quad City International Airport is continuing to add in-demand amenities with the board approving the addition of curbside valet and coat check services this morning. The airport will contract with LAZ Parking to offer the service with a target to launch this spring.

“We’ve been doing some canvassing of other airports to see which amenities make sense for us and adding valet and coat check was an obvious choice given the large number of business travelers we serve,” said Ben Leischner, A.A.E., executive director for the Metropolitan Airport Authority of Rock Island County. “We think this is great for families too – you’ll have the option of not making everyone wait at the curb or in a freezing cold car while you dig out.”

Quad City International Airport flies to several warmer destinations including Phoenix-Mesa, Orlando, and St. Pete/Clearwater and coat check allows travelers to leave bulky coats behind in a secure area.

“LAZ Parking is pleased to partner with the airport to bring these additional services,” said Chris J. Howley, senior director, LAZ Parking. “The terminal curbside valet parking introduces a high service level parking option to the airport for the same price as overnight parking in the short-term lot. Simply drop your car off at curbside with one of our attendants, provide your flight information and have your car waiting at curbside upon your return.”

Bookings, reservations and payments can be made over the phone, online, through an app, in advance or on-site once the service launches. The service is launching at no cost to the airport, with the opportunity to generate some additional revenue.

The addition of valet parking and coat check is just one of several upgrades being made around the airport. Leading up to the transformation of the landside terminal, several short and long-term projects were identified in an effort to add value for passengers and the community. Other upgrades include premium covered parking, adding children’s play areas and upgrading amenities in the IMEG Business Center.

With 721,999 passengers logged for 2019, traffic is up compared to recent years. Airport leadership will continue working internally and with outside partners to push for increased service and improved passenger experience.
