Metropolitan Airport Authority of Rock Island County receives 15th consecutive financial reporting award

June 24, 2021

The Metropolitan Airport Authority of Rock Island County (MAA) has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Financial Officers Association of the United States and Canada. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

“Our finance team is vital to the day to day operations of our facilities,” said Benjamin Leischner, A.A.E., executive director, MAA. “The complexities of our finances requires a team that not only manages a tremendous amount of work but also a team that values and upholds transparency. I am so proud of this team for their hard-earned and well-deserved recognition.”

The MAA finance team received this award for comprehensive annual financial reporting for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2020. The report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
