What’s New at MLI: Later Flights, New Faces & Future Plans

June 24, 2025

Summer travel season is in full swing, and we’ve got some exciting updates to share—from schedule changes that make your morning routine easier to behind-the-scenes work shaping the future of air travel in the Quad Cities.
An Easier Start to Your Day: American Moves CLT Flight to 7 a.m.
Say goodbye to break-of-dawn departures! American Airlines has adjusted its daily flight to Charlotte (CLT), now taking off at 7:00 a.m. instead of 5:00 a.m. This later time makes for a more relaxed start while still giving you convenient access to one of the best connecting hubs in the country. Whether you’re headed to the beaches of Florida or a bucket list destination abroad, Charlotte offers smooth one-stop options to just about anywhere.
Welcome Our New Airport Management Intern
We’re thrilled to welcome Grant G., the newest member of our team through the Airport Management Internship Program. This yearlong opportunity gives emerging aviation leaders hands-on experience across all areas of airport operations—from airfield management and security to tenant relations and customer service. It’s part of our commitment to building a strong future for the industry and mentoring the next generation of airport professionals.
Working to Grow QC Flights
Last week, members of our team attended the JumpStart Air Service Development Conference—an important opportunity to meet directly with airlines and share why the Quad Cities deserves more nonstop destinations. While airports don’t have the authority to add routes, we play a key role in advocating for our region and building relationships with airline decision-makers. It can take years to bring a new flight on board, but we’re in it for the long haul and continue to make the case for better access for our travelers.
Thank you for choosing MLI. Whether you’re traveling this summer or staying close to home, know that we’re always working to make your airport experience smoother, smarter and more connected.
