As we kick off 2026, there’s plenty in store at your hometown airport, from enhanced facilities to exciting new service that brings even more convenience and opportunity to fly local.
Project GATEWAY: Elevating Your Experience
One of the biggest changes to look forward to is the continuation of Project GATEWAY, a transformational upgrade to the public side of our terminal. In 2026, you’ll see more dramatic changes including new flooring and furnishings, reconfigured passenger amenities, and refreshed spaces for dining and shopping. This project emphasizes thoughtful design and accessibility, with upgraded facilities that will exceed ADA standards. And we’ll be unveiling a brand-new outdoor lounge space where you can relax and take in stunning views of the airfield.
More Flights, More Options
Travel flexibility continues to grow in 2026. Delta Air Lines is adding a third daily nonstop flight to Atlanta (ATL) beginning May 21. Departing at 11 a.m., this additional option gives passengers more scheduling choices and improved connections to Delta’s global network.
Sarasota is Back

SAFECON Comes to the Quad Cities
May will bring the National Intercollegiate Flying Association (NIFA)’s Safety and Flight Evaluation Conference (SAFECON) to the Quad Cities for the first time! SAFEON is the premier national collegiate aviation event. Over 500 top student aviators from more than 30 colleges will gather at MLI to compete in knowledge, simulator and flying events, connect with industry partners, and inspire the next generation of aviation professionals.
