Exciting news, Quad Cities travelers! The first phase of QC Airport’s Project GATEWAY is complete, bringing faster baggage handling, upgraded ticketing areas and a smoother airport experience—all while supporting local labor.
What’s new?
✅ Improved efficiency – Baggage moves faster, so you do too! A new 14,600-square-foot building was constructed to house baggage screening and improve airline operations. No more dragging your suitcase to be screened by TSA! You can check it and leave it right at the counter.
✅ Modernized ticketing counters – First update since 1985! To accommodate the take-back belt for baggage screening and handling, we had to rebuild the ticketing area. This was an opportunity to set the tone for a new look and feel for the terminal. We also added repack scales so if you’re a notorious overpacker, you can right-size your bags.
✅ Safer, smarter operations – By moving critical TSA operations out of public view, we’re enhancing safety and privacy for passengers.
This $18 million transformation was powered by 97% local skilled workers, keeping jobs and investments right here in our community.
And we’re just getting started! More upgrades are on the way, including better flooring, enhanced restrooms, nursing suites and a weather-protected curbside canopy.
