Project GATEWAY is transforming the airport, and with construction now underway, there are a few temporary changes in and around the terminal. Here’s what you need to know whether you’re flying or dropping off/picking up a loved one.
New Curbside Traffic Pattern
To keep everyone moving safely during construction:
- A portion of Lanes 1 and 2 (closest to the terminal) will be closed for our construction crews.
- There is no parking or waiting on the remaining inner lane closest to the terminal where the construction zone is located.
- All passenger pick-up and drop-off activity should use the two outer lanes, or occur before/after the blocked lanes. Please do not stop in an area where other vehicles are unable to pass you, blocking traffic.
Picking someone up? Save yourself a lap around the terminal and use our Cell Phone Waiting Lot until your traveler is ready.
Door 7 is Temporarily Closed
Door 7, closest to the rental car lot, is no longer available for passenger use. Please enter through Doors 2, 5 or 6 instead. And yes, the door numbers will also be fixed through Project GATEWAY!
Parking Lot Updates
In addition to terminal improvements, we’re updating our parking operations and infrastructure. You may experience temporary parking lot entrance closures and reduced exit lanes as a new system is fully implemented and new concrete is poured. The premium lot entrance may be briefly unavailable but the economy lot will still be accessible. The project is set to wrap up this summer. More information will be shared on our website.
Rental Car Counters
All rental car companies are open at the airport. Enterprise Rent-A-Car has temporarily relocated near Door 6. For all rental car counters, you’ll enter through any door and turn left.
The Destination is Worth the Detour
Every wall, cone and temporary traffic shift you see today is helping create a better airport experience tomorrow. From improved accessibility and expanded amenities to refreshed spaces that better serve today’s travelers, these upgrades are investments in the future of air travel in the Quad Cities.
Thank you for your support as we create a modern hometown airport for our region.
